Jewelry Deal: Gorjana & Griffin

Gorjana & Griffin is a simple but adorable accessories designer that has the some of the best basic gold and silver jewelry pieces out there. I originally found out about the brand on one of my favorite blogs, Cupcakes & Cashmere, this past summer. While I have online “window” shopped Gorjana & Griffin’s site before I have never purchased anything because It all seemed a little more than I wanted to spend on jewelry. (lets just say I am not an excellent care taker when it comes to jewelry) But when I was on Gilt yesterday I saw a deal for Gorjana & Griffin that I could not pass up. $40 for $80 worth or $80 for $165 worth of accessories both seemed like pretty good deal to me but what sweetened the pot was a retail me not coupon I found for Gilt City “WELCOME20” which gave me another 20% off. So needless to say I purchased the $165 worth of accessories and ended up paying only $64. Pretty good deal.

PS. the Gilt deal is still available till March 6th so don’t miss out!

{ Closet Envy – Windows in a closet }

I have decided to start a traditional Friday Post that mentions some of the things that have been inspiring me lately. Between my new obsession with jewels and going away to a wedding this weekend, I would say these images have been inspiring me this week.

Summer Weddings

This weekend I am going to Harrisburg, PA for my friends wedding. This summer I have been obsessed with a splash of bright color, whether its the dress, the clutch or just jewelry and i especially feel that whats needs to celebrate a friends wedding. I have never been to Harrisburg. I am excited to explore a new place and have a great weekend with friends. Next week I will post my wedding outfits!

1. Susan Hanover Earrings $198

2. Valentino Studded Heals $945

3. A.L.C. Dress $550

4. BCBG Envelope Clutch $103

5. Parker Dress $297

Whites and Brights

{Joie top (similar top here), Express white pants, MICHAEL Michael Kors wedges}

I love the color white, so during the summer months I wear white as much as possible. This summer bright colors are in, lime greens, hot pinks, orange. While I love fashion, I definitely have a more classic look when it comes to fashion. The simple detailing on the blouse is perfectly balanced with its bright color.

Beach Getaway Essentials

I am going to Ocean City, MD this weekend for a girls trip. So I thought it was necessary to post some of my beach essentials. I really am all about functionality  comfort with a splash a glamour.

1. Topshop Crop Top | perfect for a casual beach look, or dress up a crop top for a night at the beach bars

2. Matches Fashion High Waisted Shorts | not only do they elongate those bronzed legs these cute strips just add the right about of beach flair

3. Shopbop Dainty Necklace | I usually dont wear any jewelry to the beach but this dainty necklace would shine in the sun

4. Shopbop Backpack | with already having to carry a towel and chair to the beach how easy does this cute backpack make it to carry everything else

5. Net-a-Porter Nail Polish | great colors that you may not get away with on the typical work day, but at the beach they nail polish colors are a must

6. Amazon  The Bronze Horseman | summer reads, finishing up this trilogy, who doesn’t like reading a little romance on the beach

DIY Summer Hat

I love the style of a wide brim hat, it just seems to have such a chic element to it, especially wearing it on the beach. I have really liked the ones that are a little bit on the plainer side with just a little trim. But instead of paying a lump sum and wanting to do a DIY, I decided to try adding my own trim to a wide brim hat and I have to say I am pretty happy with the results!

  • Plain large brim hat
  • 1″ thick Ribbon (I used a grosgrain ribbon)
  • Matching thread
  • Tacky Glue
  • Needle
  • Scissors
  • Pins

I used a navy color (hard to tell from the pictures) grosgrain ribbon for my trim. And actually got my plain hat from my trip to South Africa.

I first did the ribbon around the inner part of the hat using the tacky glue, for the end of the ribbon that ends up on top I folded it over to give the edge a polished look.

For the trim around the brim I used a needle and thread, folding the ribbon half way on each side of the brim. this part was a little tedious but it was too thick to put through a sewing machine, so hand sewn it was. You can use pins to hold the ribbon in place, the key is to make sure you use one of the lines from the hat as a guide so that its that same width all the way around on top and bottom.

Summer Steals!

{ MICHAEL Michel Kors Wedges, Rebecca Minkoff Studded Wallet and Studded Bracelet }

The Summer is off to a great start with some great finds all on sale! Classic cognac is my go to this summer because it really can go with anything, white pants, jean shorts you name it.  I love the studded detail on the cross body bag and diamonds on the bracelet, which is stretchy so it does not hurt to wear.  I am sure you will see some of these great pieces when I put some outfits together.
